Traditional opera features certain characters who are wonderfully eccentric and mischievous—they possess a peculiar, elusive charm. I was deeply moved to capture this sense of 'spectral quirkiness' in their facial expressions, yet several attempts ended in frustration. In a fit of vexation, I completely dismantled and disrupted the facial structure of the piece.

Surprisingly, this accidental 'destruction' yielded an unexpected artistic brilliance, leading me to a brand-new mode of expression. I followed this newfound momentum, and it ultimately gave birth to this finished work. Perhaps this is the true essence of the saying: 'To create, one must first destroy; to establish the new, one must first break the old'.
